So back in ye old Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Nine (1989) the Canoe Centre was originally opened in the building next door from our current location, Williams Cottage. At that time it was a joint venture between Mark Downey and Gerry Collins/Great Outdoors. Primarily manufacturing at that point but also importing products from manufacturers such as Pyranha Mouldings, Dagger Kayaks and Mobile Adventure.

Software at that time came from Wild Water and later Peak UK. The business morphed into the manufacturing plant and home to Rough Stuff Paddles and manufacturing of these world class paddles. With a list of characters as long as your arm of former staff, customers and friends we hope to carry some of this heritage forward with us into the future

So it's January 2016 and Shane Cronin & Ciarán "Kipper" Maguire (whoever he is), have taken on management of the Canoe Centre. Ciarán & Shane's combined extensive knowledge & experience of the industry from both a coaching/instruction point of view and their experiences using, selling and contributing to the design of many products over the years will cement the advice, sales and services offered by the Canoe Centre and its staff.

Almost 30 years since the beginging the Canoe Centre is now being up-cycled into a state of the art Canoe & Kayak Outfitters. From the banks of the River Liffey in Palmerstown we are endeavouring to supply a new type of service to the paddling community here in Ireland.

Whether you are looking to start your kayaking addiction or looking to feed what has become a nasty habit we hope to be able to provide something for you. Courses, equipment rental, demo equipment, events, sales; we have it all and we hope to continue to develop this new foundation we are laying out with new and innovative services for the paddling community.
